Article XXIII update; Local 97 is waiting for the company to name their co-chairs. We are hopeful that we can get to the table soon to begin detailed discussions.
I will continue to update everyone as things develop.

With the changing restrictions regarding Covid, we remind the membership to look for changes in the requirements, namely the reintroduced mask policy. As things change, we will report out to the membership as soon as possible. In the meantime, for your safety and that of your brothers and sisters, please be diligent in following the process in place.

The 3rd step grievances scheduled for August 5th were canceled due to illness on the company side, they will be rescheduled in September.

As always, should any member have a question, an issue or concern please contact your steward or if they are unavailable call the hall directly.

On July 28th Albany Substation Foreman Jerry Walsh was seriously injured while cleaning fallen trees in his yard following a storm. He received numerous broken bones and internal injuries. After several days in the hospital, he is now home resting before starting rehabilitation. He's a 13-year employee and will be out of work for approximately 12 to 16 weeks. Donations were collected in Albany to help Jerry and his family through the coming weeks. We all wish him a speedy, and full recovery.

We are working on 2nd steps grievances as well as the day-to-day issues in the field. Stay hydrated in this heat, and as always Work Safe!

It is beginning to get confusing again with Covid. We were just starting to see the light of the way things were and then things started heating up again. I’m hopeful this will be quick-lived as I too enjoyed the freedom, we have all learned. I ask that each of you be considerate to each other, wear your masks when required, and stand a little farther apart. These times are stressful enough and there is no reason to make them worse. Stay safe and go home healthy.

The Article XXIII’s are crawling along, we should be talking by fall. Union meetings will happen again. It just wasn’t worth chancing it this month. We are seeing quarantines again, not as bad as early on, but let’s hope they go away.

I will be getting back to my barn visits this month, so if you have questions bring them up then. In closing, keep up the good work and watch out for each other.
