BUSINESS MANAGER’S REPORT
For all “A” members, there will be a dues increase January 1, 2015. Dues will increase from $23.76 to $23.99.
Most of my time has been in negotiations with Bear Swamp, which is the new Brookfield property we organized in Massachusetts, and St. Lawrence Gas, whose contract expires February 15, 2015.
BROOKFIELD
Code of Business Conduct and Ethics issue: They have agreed that this will be considered like a training class. For all properties, remember do not sign anything that says you will comply with it. We have agreed we will watch or read it but will not sign a statement of compliance.
NGRID
We are having a shovel test issue in the Central Division for Gas. The issue is with the nurse on what kind of testing she does before the shovel test. We are trying to get an agreement.
We are trying to schedule a meeting with Johnnie Johnson to see what his plans are for the future. He is replacing Mike Courtien in Customer Metering Services.
Design Rep. MOA: We met with the Company and were able to change some of the things the committee did not like. We are waiting for a response back from the Company.
NRG
Met with Company to go over various issues:
- Drug Testing: You do have the choice to do either swab or urine test. You just have to request it. If there are any other issues, let us know. Discussed the concern about it being random. One quarter there were 284 selected with 8 from Local 97 and another quarter there were 219 selected with 10 from Local 97. There are a total of 5,900 in the pool.
- Discussed post accident issue about getting your car home from the plant when they drive you to get tested. They will look at different ideas on how to get you your car.
- Discussed issue with work mobility and short notice. Carson owes us an answer this week.
- Issue with mileage for traveling while off site – Company will follow the contract.
- Discussed issues that Andy Pacos and Sue Sweeney found with benefit changes. They are complying with funding of the pension.
- Discussed Dunkirk Plant and Company at some point looking to go into talks with NGrid to see if they can extend the agreement.
- Discussed training, progression and moving up. They are looking at fixing three members with retro pay that were held up once course work was completed. They will also get the monthly review meeting back on track.
Light Duty for Comp
The Company has agreed to do their best to accommodate light duty. It will be decided in regards to limitations and whether their department will have work for them to do.
Would like to wish you and yours Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
