We have just passed the Memorial Day holiday on May 25, 2020. and I want to remember all of those who have served our great country and have lost their life. I want to say thank you to all the families who lost loved one's, they will not be forgotten. I also want to say thank you to all our members who have served in the armed forces. It is because of you that we all get to enjoy our freedoms in this great country. The company has done a good job recruiting veterans, helmets to hard hats. Through Ted Skerpon's leadership Local 97 has been working with the company to make sure the company understands some of our veterans have needs in the work place.
"It doesn't take a hero to order men into battle. It takes a hero to be one of those men who goes into battle."- Norman Schwarzkopf
Motorcycle Safety: The news lately is filled with Motorcycle accidents and I know we have a lot of members who ride. I just want to reminded everyone riding a motorcycle is like working, you must have all your PPE on. When I see shorts and flip flops it makes me nuts. Please ride safe and dress appropriately. For all of us its true, "Look Twice and Save a Life".
Corona virus: I would like to thank our membership for coming together during this time in our life as we deal with everything the corona virus has dealt us. It is amazing how we have adapted to work life and home life. It has not been easy for anyone and I have said it a few times but the word is "Tolerance" we all need to be aware that this pandemic is affecting everyone and we don't all deal with things the same way. This applies to your family at home and your family at Niagara Mohawk. - Jim Murty, IBEW Local 97 Assistant Business Manager West
