Brothers and Sisters,
National Grid and Local 97 have met to discuss the Company’s proposed implementation of Telematics systems allowing for advanced telemetry data from company vehicles. Local 97 has clearly communicated its position that the company’s actions violate Article XXI of the parties’ collective bargaining agreement. In addition, the proposed implementation constitutes a change in conditions of employment and is a mandatory subject of bargaining under the National Labor Relations Act. On advice of our attorneys, a cease-and-desist letter communicating these issues was sent to the company. The company maintains their position that there is no violation of the law or the parties’ Collective Bargaining Agreement. We will continue to peruse this matter through all appropriate legal channels and will update our members as more information becomes available.
In Solidarity,
Mike Shelby
President/ Business Manager
IBEW Local 97
