Some Positive Changes for the Fall

Monday, October 2, 2017

Across the state, our members are doing a great job of delivering service even in times of change. As you will see below, the Central Division has gotten an influx of new tools to help them do their jobs more efficiently and safely. While technology is changing our long term members provide us with on the job stability and knowledge that keeps everyone safe and our workplaces running smoothly. A number of our members will be honored for their years of dedicated service in the month of October. You can read more about their decades of service below.

We are also seeing changes with our employers. PSEG recently announced that they have a new President, Ralph LaRosa. I have already scheduled a meeting with him and hope to continue our good relationship with the company. For our members at St. Lawrence Gas, the company was recently bought by Liberty Utilities, a subsidiary of Algonquin Power.

Some members felt the change by hitting the road. Local 97 sent 30 crews to Florida to help with the restoration effort. The IBEW has called the restoration workforce that came to Florida the largest in US history and Local 97 was proud to be a part of this. I would like to thank these members and let them know that they did a great job in showing the expertise and professionalism that is expected from a Local 97 member.
