Eastern Division Report: Tick Season

Saturday, April 22, 2017

From Paul Crisafulli, Gas Safety Advocate:

April is a good time to prepare yourself and your work truck/van for the change of seasons where safety is concerned. Please take these following precautions:

  1. Ticks have been active and if you haven't sprayed your clothes and boots with permethrin to aid in keeping ticks and other pests from attaching to your person now is a good time to do so.
  2. Black flies, chiggers, gnats, and mosquitoes will be out in force soon. Stock your truck/van with products that contain DEET to protect yourself.
  3. Inspect your first aid and burn kits and replace any item that has expired, especially products to help in lessening the pain of a sting from bees and wasps.
  4. If you carry an epipen make sure it is up-to-date. Replace expired ones by getting a prescription from your doctor.
  5. Warmer weather is coming and you will need to increase your fluid intake to avoid the effects of dehydration.

Thanks Paul.
