Carly's Club Breakfast - Buffalo

Wednesday, March 16, 2016
I hope there has been some communication already given to you regarding Carly’s Club.  Carly’s Club for Kids and Cancer Research in WNY exists to offer support programs to make life more manageable for children diagnosed with cancer and their families, and to raise funds for pediatric cancer research seeking cures at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Every year at Christmas, Carly’s Club holds an annual Christmas party for the children affected with cancer and their families.  Obviously, many children are hospitalized during this time, so Carly’s Club tries to make Christmas extra special for them as well. You can find more information on: Https://giving.roswellpark.org/carlysclub.

Last year, Customer Metering Services became involved with Carly’s list in special memory of Michael C. Carabelli, and the response was wonderful.  This year, CMS is reaching across the complex for support of this wonderful cause. Andrea Pustulka is supporting this effort.

A breakfast fundraiser is being held on April 13, 2016, in the Dewey Auditorium starting at 7 a.m. for a $5 donation toward Pediatric Research. There is a 7 a.m. start because field operations begin early, and we want everyone to have an opportunity to participate.   Bins will be placed Tuesday around the complex for any toys anyone would want to donate. I will let you know exactly where they are situated via email.

There is a wish list for the preferences of the children that will be posted as well. There will also be items raffled, which have been graciously donated by fellow co-workers in order to raise funds. Note, the bins will only be there until December 6, this is because everything has to be delivered to Roswell as they carefully choose the items each child and their siblings have chosen both for the children hospitalized and for those that are attending their annual Christmas Party which is being held December 16th at the Buffalo Convention Center. They then wrap all those gifts. There is a lot of detailed preparation on the part of Carly’s Club.

I know this is a lot of information, but I want everyone to be informed.

For those of you who have become involved that are not at Dewey/Kensington, thank you for your participation in raising funds for Carly’s Club and for wanting to be a part of this, we are awestruck by the spirit of giving.

How do we ever appropriately express our gratitude to all of you for your support and assistance in this project? The collection process is obviously critical in making this a success for Carly’s Club.  Thanks to you we will be able to bring smiles and a cheerful moment to hundreds of kids in addition to contributing toward pediatric cancer research.

We all have been touched by cancer in some way, either directly or indirectly.  It is a difficult journey.

God Bless you and your Families at this special time of the year.

            Sincerely,
            Nancy A. Smith
