We held steward seminars in all three divisions put on by the International that was well received and we will look at holding more in the first quarter of 2019.
For some time now I have been talking about change and based on a message from Dean Seavers, President, National Grid, US you will start to see more about change on the Grid property. He has stated that there is tremendous change in our industry with a shift away from cost-of-service rates to more performance-based rates. This is why it is so imperative that we adapt to change and respond to all work opportunities.
We are still reviewing 2 person crew areas with CMS
Also should have a final agreement to allow a CMS rep. to help with Learning and Development training in the East and Central.
We did ratify a contract with NYISO that allows for a 2.7% Gwi and up to a 6.7% incentive bonus. There were increases to the cost share of the medical/prescription plan going from 90/10 to 85/15. It is a 4 year contract. It was ratified by an 83% margin.
I did attend a benefits meeting at PSEG where they are looking to make changes to the post 65 retirees.
National Grid and IBEW Local 1049 reached a tentative agreement to replace the existing contract which was set to expire at midnight on February 13, 2019. The union will present the agreement to their members for a ratification vote in the coming weeks.
The agreement covers approximately 1,200 employees that support National Grid’s gas operations, generation business and various other support functions on Long Island and the Rockaway Peninsula.
I Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving and remember we do have a lot to be thankful for!!!
