Happy Spring, we finally made it. It sure has been a long winter. The following is a brief summary of what has been going on this past month.

Town of Worcester: Currently we are recruiting a member to step up to the position of Steward for your shop. Anyone that is interested please contact me.

PSEG: The Union would like to recognize all the members who were involved in the replacement of the transformer after the original one exploded in the yard. Great job done as it was completed in a safe and efficient manner. The company has expressed their appreciation and has issued letters of praise to the employees. Short term disability issue has been resolved. Vacation accrual payout for retiring employees has been resolved. Still working on vacation accrual for retired employees. Working on contract negotiations.

NYISO: Working on filling a vacant position. Working on an upgrade issue.

Brookfield Bear Swamp: Working on issuing an updated contract book.

Liberty Utilities: Working on grievance regarding rest time.

Brookfield Hydro N.Y.: Working with the company on filling various positions due to upcoming retirements. Reviewed various safety procedures. Spoke to company on the need for training, to get members qualified.

Youth Committee: Received approval for a donation from the Union to help out a couple of members who have fallen on hard times.

Safety Reminder: Please make sure all pre-use and annual inspections are complete prior to using the equipment. Fall protection, including harnesses, retrievals, straps, ladders, lifts, bucket trucks etc... Rigging, such as cranes, hoists, slings, shackles, etc... These inspections are one way we can reach our goal of working safely and returning home every day after work.
