Business Manager's Report

NATIONAL GRID

We attended a Son of Sam meeting, which is a Union/Company meeting to go over outstanding issues. Some of the issues we discussed:

1. Pensions
The Company along with the union will be holding a meeting in all three divisions in August for employees eligible to retire. You will be allowed to take half a day to go home, shower and bring your spouse back for the presentation.

2. Post and Bid Issues
Having issues with voice mail and faxing of jobs and not getting to all machines. Gave Company list of those areas having issues.

3. Discipline
Had discussion on removing letters in the file. Contractually we should be having discussions the first of the year on whether they should be removed. Sending list to Company to see what we think should be removed and setting up dates to sit down with the Company.

Will be setting up a meeting with the Company on benefit issues related to sick time calculations especially 60% pay and when there is another incident.

Looking to negotiate a new per diem rate for out-of-town training.

We finished the H-Walk arbitration on the Gas side. The issue was testing for leaks on property where the Gas Mechanics did the work and Company went to contractors. Waiting on decision from arbitrator.

We are very close to getting a Clerical MOU which will give Sobo/Robo work back to the Office Technicians.

Had an Ethics meeting with the Company to discuss the rollout of “Doing the Right Thing”.

Looking for a date from the Company to do SPD Review for 97c.

The Company notified us they are no longer interested in the Article XXIII for Gas.

New member orientations will be held at 6:00 in the union halls May 26th in Buffalo, May 27th in Syracuse and May 28th in Albany.

NRG

Working on a Pension web site issue. Hoping to get some resolutions. There is not a lot of information on the site for employees. I reached out to the Company and gave suggestions on how it should look and be more beneficial to the employee.

BROOKFIELD

We are still continuing with negotiations for Bear Swamp. This is the company we were successful in organizing.

PSEG

Wellness Committee is being conducted. They are trying to avoid excess tax and get employees healthy. They are trying to lower cost and provide same benefits.

ENTERGY

We are still in talks with the company on a possible contract extension. There is a lot of benefit issues on the table. Their contract is up in September.
