NYS Gas Ban Class Action Lawsuit

Brothers and Sisters,

Local 97 is a party to a class action lawsuit that has been filed against New York State’s Natural Gas Ban Legislation. This lawsuit argues that the state law that will ban the installation of natural gas in new buildings conflicts with the federal Energy Policy and Conservation Act and that the federal statutes overrule the state measure. We, along with Local 1049 in Long Island, are the only IBEW locals to join as plaintiffs. We will update our members on the progress of this lawsuit.
