Syracuse Public Hearing can save our jobs

Wednesday, November 18, 2015
There is a lot of uncertainty right now with the FitzPatrick, Dunkirk and Huntley plants. Myself, along with his negotiations Committee, are doing effects bargaining with NRG today, starting the process on the closing of both Huntley and Dunkirk.  You can also read the statement that Local 97 in regards to the closing of the FitzPatrick Nuclear plant here.

Across the state, politicians are pandering to irrational environmentalist, instituting a credit system that will force our compliant employers to make tough decisions that may end up in massive job losses. So as a union we need to do contact our lawmakers and get out to the Syracuse Public Service Commission's Public Hearings on Wednesday November 18th on the REV and make our presence and voice heard. The details on that hearing are below. Many thanks to the members and leaders who came out to the past hearings.  The Utility Labor Council of NYS is actively engaged in a campaign to save Local 97 jobs and will be running an ad in the Syracuse Post Standard on Sunday, November 15th.

Please attend the Union Meetings and make every effort to come out to the PSC REV Public Hearings. In short, our jobs do depend on it. Continue to work hard and make safety a daily habit.
