Show our Power by Voting

Wednesday, November 2, 2016

We are less then a week away from the Presidential election and while the election has been long and divisive, we believe that we have a clear choice.  As you will see below, when our union needed her, Hillary Clinton stood by Local 97 members and helped us avoid a costly and potentially damaging lockout in 2004.  It is because of actions like this that the IBEW, as well as every other union in the country has endorsed Hillary Clinton for President. There are also important local races for Congress, the State Senate and State Assembly.  These elected officials determine important issues like protecting utility workers, regulating power plants and protecting our right to organize and bargain collectively.  Below we have included a list of labor friendly candidates who have been endorsed by the New York State AFL-CIO.  Please read these over carefully and vote for the candidates who support our union.  In the next few months we have four contracts expiring as well as the ever present threat of more nuclear power plants closing so we need to show our power as a union by getting out and voting for candidates who will stand with us. The polls are open from 6:00 AM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, November 8th so make a plan to vote before or after work.
