Business Managers Report

Thursday, June 16, 2016

We received a communication from the International that they will be supporting Hillary Clinton for President. I will just tell you to take a look at the candidates and see what they can do for our future. It is important to please remember to vote.

I would like to thank the Youth Committee. They recently attended the Progress Meeting in Philadelphia. They also attended community events. I hope to see our Committee continue to grow.

We will be sending four delegates next week to the Women’s Conference to be held in Phoenix, Arizona.

The New York Clean Energy Standard Bill is going on and we are asking our members to sign a petition in favor of keeping our nuclear plants open. We are still pushing the Transco upgrade of transmission lines and large scale renewable projects. Utilities want to be a part of it. Please visit our web site.

There was a news release that Exelon who is the owner of Nine Mile 1 nuclear plant stating that if they do not get the carbon credits soon from the PSC they feel the need to shut down the plant. They need an answer by September.

We will be celebrating our Independence Day with the 4th of July and please remember to thank a Vet.

BROOKFIELD:

We have several issues that are going to arbitration. We are still working with the company to come to resolutions.

We have finally wrapped up a tentative agreement with Bear Swamp which is the property we organized. We will be holding an explanation and vote for our members next week for ratification.

ENTERGY:

We are still working on trying the keep the plant open. We are trying to get another bill going where NYPA will buy it back. They were previous owners. We do have successor language if this would happen.

We still are working on the Security Guards retention effects bargaining. We are looking for dates in July to meet again.

NGRID:

I have met with Mike Bernardo, our new Labor Director who has replaced Jim Raab. We had a good conversation. Because of the elections, they will be waiting to see what happens until we continue with discussions including a possible contract extension.

You may have received communication on Send Word Now Notification which has to do with reporting to work for storm duty. I notified the company it is not our Call Out Procedure and Labor recognizes it and we will not be following that procedure.

We will be starting 97c negotiations in September. Hoping for a possible contract extension.

You should have received your bonus of 3.93%. There was some discrepancy on what the percentage was. They are telling me that this year it is being done by basis points. We do have a cap of 4.5% so in order to get more than that we would have to get 200%. You have to remember that we did not negotiate this and that if we do not get 100% the company can technically give us nothing for a bonus.

PSEG:

We have reached a contract extension on that property which was ratified by the membership with 21 yes and 5 no. It is a four year contract.
