First off I would like to take a minute to thank all veterans here with us, those who have past and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to our country for our freedom. I would also like to thank all of our members who have served our country, I hope you all had a great Veterans Day.

I would like to wish everyone and your families a Happy Thanksgiving. It's a good time to reflect on how lucky we are to have great employment and to think about others. The United Way fund drive is on its way. If that is not on the top of your list to donate, there are a lot of other places you can give. Donating is a great way to give back to your community whether it's money or time; please give.

The Local IBEW 97 Women's Power and Light Society are collecting gifts to donate to Toyland which benefits the Child and Family Services at Haven House. Please see the fliers that are posted for ideas on what is needed. Call Sue at 662-2324 for information.

The Local IBEW 97 Women's Power and Light Society delivered to the Ronald McDonald House items off their wish list with the money donated at our Union picnic this year.  We also participated in Cook for Kids on October 24th where we prepared a meal for people at the house. A big thank you goes out to:  Morgan Kiefhaber, Cathi Gervase, Paulette Dust-Allen, Pam Schrimmel, Lisa Ciancio and Jeanette Chimino who made this event possible. Look for the opportunity to participate again in the Spring.

We are going to have a lot of members retiring at the end of this month. I would like to congratulate everyone of you. I would also like to thank all of you that have served the Union as Stewards or committee members or in any other capacity; without you we would not be able to function.-Jim Murty, ABM, Western Division
