Western Division Report

Monday, March 27, 2017

I would like to thank all the Western Division Line Crews who worked tirelessly on the recent wind storm. I would also like to thank all the departments in the West who also worked to assist in restoration efforts. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed. This storm left no area of the Western Division untouched, it was a huge effort from everyone involved to get the lights on. At the peek there were about 120,000 customers out of power and 320 broken poles.

I would also like to thank our Brothers and Sisters who came in from the Central and Eastern Divisions to assist our crews. It shows what a great team we have here at Local 97 and how we can work together seamlessly and safely.

I also want to say that I am proud of how safely you all worked on this storm. There were only two incidents one RTC and one scraped knee. With the amount of work performed and the hours worked your safety record is amazing. Please keep it up.

Two Upcoming Dates to Mark on Your Calendar:

1.  Western Division Union Picnic - Saturday September 23rd (more information to follow)

2.  Women's Committee will be participating in the Ronald McDonald House 5K Run on July 26, 2017 (once a team is organized more information will follow.

Thank You from the West; -Jim Murty, IBEW Local 97 Assistant Business Manager West
