Business Managers Report

 November 2011

On October 26th I along with Phil Wilcox and Marty Currier met with the NYS AFL/CIO in Albany to provide them with information regarding our efforts to upgrade transmission lines. Phil will have a more detailed report and ways that you can help support this effort.

Brookfield:

Per a 2010 MOA Brookfield was suppose to contribute over $4,000,000.00 in 2011 to the pension plan. We are investigating what payments the company has made to date.

Constellation:

We are still battling some issues from the strike, the latest being that the company replaced a union contractor with a non-union contractor to do elevator repairs and HVAC work.

In the process of finalizing the cash balance supplemental funding payouts.

Entergy:

We are in the process of doing explanations of the new contract to our stewards.

National Grid:

We met on the Platform Attendant issue and the resolution was that the company is in agreement with the Union and they will not load poles or utilize equipment other than the forklift.

I along with staff met with Neil Proudman regarding Clerical, Fleet and Warehouse issues.

We met with Sue Gravenda, Terri Sheridan and Ron Cotton to resolve issues surrounding storms issues for the Office Techs.

We held a company/union meeting on Friday November 4th to try and get back on track to bring resolve to several outstanding issues.

We had several issues relating to the latest storm and will be meeting with the company to resolve these issues.

I once again need to remind everyone that you are not allowed to remove any company property for personal use.

NRG:

Contract was sent to the company for final sign off so that we can have new books printed.

PSEG:

The company started requesting our members to stay beyond the end of their shift in order to turn over the shift. They feel they are not obligated to pay the employees for such turn over. We will file grievances over the issue. I also have a call into Bill Thompson (Labor manager) and have our attorneys looking into filing further charges.

Town of Worcester:

We will be meeting with the members in early December to prepare for negotiation. Their contract expires December 31, 2011.
