Business Managers Report
May 2011
GENERAL
- I have completed my required 2 weeks of New Business Managers training.
- I attended the 3rd district work shop at the Turning Stone where we discussed lower ground controls, safety advocates, and arbitrations.
- Our International Representative will conduct an audit of our local on May 12th and 13th.
- We have held two stewards training seminars in the Central division utilizing our attorney and will hold two seminars in the Western division utilizing the Cornell School of Industrial and Labor Relations. The Eastern division will hold stewards training in the near future.
BROOKFIELD
- We are continuing preparation for the upcoming upgrade arbitration. The company has postponed the first meeting.
- We are meeting with the company on trades training.
- Article 23 meetings regarding the Com Tester Relay issue have been held.
CONSTELLATION
- Exelon is in the process of merging with Constellation.
- We have had several days of reviewing contract proposals and have had two days of meetings with the company. We have scheduled 12 more days for negotiations.
ENTERGY
- Their Pension funding is at 80%
NATIONAL GRID
- I Met with Keith McAfee, VP NY Electric. We discussed his role in the new organization and what Local 97 feels we need to do to move forward.
- We have a tentative agreement for the Niagara Falls 10 that bid out prior to the EDO agreement.
- I have signed a home agent pilot agreement for the Account Processing department.
- The job specs for Transmission Lines Services have been finalized.
- We met with Bob Demaranis (VP of NY Gas) and Ed McCaffrey. We discussed project reviews and the core/vac truck
- Company has pushed out their time line for the re-org.
- The Eastern staff will be visiting the barns to discuss issues regarding the One Person Crews.
- We will meet with the company on May 13th, 19th and 20th to try and finalize the extension for the 97c agreement.
- I have a tentative agreement to resolve grievance 1-GC-10 (post and bid) for the 97c agreement.
- The company will be holding their review of annual policies.
- Everyone should have received notice that the pension funding is at 92.98%
NRG
- Waiting to receive contract to review.
- Pension funding at 96.35%
NYISO
- Contract language was reviewed and copies are being sent to the International for approval.
PSEG
- We are making some headway on getting represented positions posted.
- Pension funding at 81.42%
