Business Managers Report

March 2012

 In accordance with Article IX Section 5c of our bylaws, there will be a dues increase effective April 1, 2012. 

  • 38 cents for BA members
  • 37 cents for A members
  • 26 cents for those under 97c, Service Employees and Town of Worchester 

We continue our efforts to upgrade transmission and will attend the LAMPAC meeting in Washington next week. 

BROOKFIELD

Met with Matt Cook regarding upcoming negotiations.

CONSTELLATION

The merger has gone thru with Exelon. The structure for now will stay the same.

ENTERGY

We are currently in negotiations with Entergy for the Security Guards.

NATIONAL GRID

Storm guidelines for clerical were put to the test and we did have some bumps in the road, however; managed through it.

Met with Keith McAfee regarding the storm guidelines for Operations.

We reached a settlement for two grievances regarding the Field Tester position, which will split the Gas and Electric and create 11 Foremen positions at pg 23, allow for auto progression to the D level and create a new pg 14 B entry level. The company will post 4 current vacancies at the B level. There will be a new educational requirement.

Company wants to contract the H walk positions this year. We are trying work an agreement to keep the work.

We are still working the IHC (In-House Construction), Station/Relay and Design agreements.

We also are starting to look at bringing the COF (Customer Order Fulfillment) work back.

The company will be doing a road show to display the History of the company titled Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.

Should have final decision regarding FR (fire retardant) clothing by April 1st.

Company is looking to pilot a vending machine concept for small material – gloves, flashlights, bug spray, etc.

We received notification that we won a discharge arbitration in the Central Division.

We will be holding a meeting for 97c only on May 3rd.

NRG

We were notified yesterday that as of March 14th the company is filing paperwork to mothball the Dunkirk Steam Station. Presently they employ 149 members. The process could take up to 180 days to complete. Company has stated they are not looking to have a lay off but will negotiate possible early outs and moving to other NRG facilities.

PSE&G

Met in New Jersey with labor relations to try and iron out issues regarding turnover, shared services, FFD (fitness for duty) and overall Union involvement.

Also received an update on the status of the company.

ST. LAWRENCE GAS

Company continues to pursue us to sign their code of conduct policy. They are also looking to have performance reviews and “life saving” standards for safety.

TOWN OF WORCESTER

We have a 5 year contract keeping benefits intact and providing for a 2% wage increase year one and 2.5% for the next four years.
