Business Manager’s Report
June 2011
A majority of my time for the past month has been spent with the Constellation negotiations.
BROOKFIELD POWER
- Arbitration dates have been set to hear a termination grievance.
- We have questioned if the money has been deposited into the pension in accordance with the MOA regarding pension funding.
CONSTELLATION
- Negotiations are ongoing.
- A solidarity rally will take place this Saturday at Breitbeck Park in Oswego.
ENTERGY
- I met with Kevin Jenkins and Kevin Bronson to discuss upcoming negotiations. Entergy’s contract expires September 30, 2011.
NATIONAL GRID
- The company is still in the process of downsizing the management workforce.
- The bonus checks should be paid out this week.
- We have settled a grievance for the 97c members which calls for a process to consider them as eligible bidders for postings under the 97 agreement.
- We are very close to an agreement for the Niagara Falls 10.
- We have a Station/Relay meeting on June 17th with the Union committee and will meet with the company on June 23rd.
- I met with Arlene Gans the new Director of the Call Center.
NRG
- We will be meeting with the company to discuss issues regarding the implementation of the new contract language.
SERVICE EMPLOYEES
- Company is trying to implement changes to the health care program.
- The company has approached the local about the possibility of 1 or 2 employees being laid off.
