Business Manager’s Report
April 2012
Attended the LAMPAC meeting in WashingtonMarch 19-21st with Phil Wilcox and Marty Currier. It is a Labor and Management Public Affairs Committee. We made some connections with Exelon who has taken over Constellation.
Attended New York Energy HighwaySummitin New York CityApril 3-5th with Phil Wilcox and Jim Zabinski. Phil Wilcox’s efforts were recognized in getting theSummit organized. Local 97 was recognized as the union who is willing to take on the work.
Effective May 1st Julie Cosenza will be our newly appointed International Representative replacing Jim Schlosser. She is the Business/Manager/President of Local Union #2199 for National Fuel out ofBuffalo.
BROOKFIELD
Negotiations will be starting May 2nd with exchange of proposals. Company has requested all pertinent MOA’s/MOU’s we feel should be included in the contract.
System Safety meeting on March 15th and April 19th. Company is closely watching for violations.
Project Review was held March 2nd.
CONSTELLATION
Outage started Monday for 45 day 200 mg Power Up Rate.
ENTERGY
Guard contract has been settled. They were removed from the Craft Unit. We had 77 out of 90 members vote with 75’s yes and 2 no’s. Received an agreement basically the Craft received except for bid rights back to the Craft. They will receive consideration on bidding. They received a 2% raise, 4 year contract and $1,000 signing bonus
NATIONAL GRID
Company wanted to contract out all H Walkers. We got them to agree to have 10 in-house and 10 contractors between the East and Central. We will be going head-to-head with the contractors.
Station/Relay Agreement is not finalized yet. We sent a final proposal back to the company.
In-House Construction – waiting for a company proposal.
Customer Order Fulfillment – trying to bring back 15 jobs fromNew England. Hoping to finalize soon. Work will be kept in the Blue Book. They are looking for a pay group 8 entry level position.
FR Clothing – company has agreed to have two vendors. You will pick a vendor for the year. We did find out that Bulwark has everything produced inMexicoand Tyndale produces inUnited States. The Gas stipend is still to be determined. Electric will have $410.
Design Representative Agreement has been signed. All EIT’s were made whole.
We have had arbitration discharge settlement returning member back to work. Member is not sure if they want to return but he will receive all back pay.
Settlement in the East reached while we were in arbitration for discharges. One member has resigned and one member was brought back.
Central arbitration where member was moved out of barn and having to travel 45 miles to a different barn. Member was moved backed to his barn and it also included a non-senor award settlement.
Flagger positions will be filled on the Electric side with 5 in the East, 9 in Central and 5 in the West.
NRG
Company has filed a plan to mothball the Dunkirkplant. The PSC has 180 days to answer and will probably take time to make a decision. There are 145 employees there now and will only need 12 if it is mothballed. Met with company on March 26th in the hall along with the public and reporters. We are waiting to get back together. Have no more updates. It was also part of the Energy Summit that we need to get out there to Governor and legislators that we need to support this.
PSE&G
There will be an outage April 21. They will be working 12 hour shifts. They are sending Local 94 fromNew Jerseya 12 man mixed crew in lieu of contractors.
We are still dealing with issues on turnover pay and performance reviews. We are telling them we will not sign them.
ST. LAWRENCE GAS
Company has started computer based performance evaluations.
They also have Life Safety rules and are saying if you violate the rules you will be fired. They have been told that it has to be negotiated.
